LACUNA COIL Performs Acoustically On Italy's ROCK FM: Audio Available
May 29, 2008Italian goth-rockers LACUNA COIL are among over one hundred bands that are paying their last tributes this week to Radio Rock Fm, a Milan-based rock station which is set to close on Saturday, May 31. The LACUNA COIL bandmembers, who are longtime friends of DJ Claudia, took part in a friendly on-air interview and performed an acoustic version of "Closer" off their latest album, "Karmacode", along with an a-cappella cover version of RIHANNA's "Umbrella" (played as an inside joke between LACUNA singer Cristina Scabbia and Claudia).
The song and the entire interview (in Italian) can be heard on the news blog Musica Metal. (To listen to "Umbrella", skip to block 925/1137 in Part 3 of the recording.)
LACUNA COIL's previously announced Australian tour, which was scheduled to take place in June, was cancelled "due to matters completely beyond our control," according to a statement released by the band. "However, we are thrilled to announce that we will be coming back to Australia this coming February to perform at the Soundwave 2009 festival! We love Australia, and can't wait to rock with all of our amazing friends Down Under again!"
LACUNA COIL has started work on a DVD project which is tentatively scheduled to be released later this year. The DVD will be a retrospective of all things from the band's "Karmacode" album cycle. It will include promotional videos, spectacularly remixed professionally shot festival appearances, behind-the-scenes travel documentaries and home videos and a few other fan-friendly surprises!
This will be the first "official" LACUNA COIL DVD release.
As previously reported, LACUNA COIL vocalist Cristina Scabbia recently confirmed that she will perform with Finnish cello quartet APOCALYPTICA at this year's Download festival on Sunday, June 15 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, UK.
Cristina will sing the epic ballad "S.O.S. (Anything But Love)", which was featured on APOCALYPTICA's new album, "Worlds Collide", and was released as a single earlier this year, accompanied by a suitably dark and lavish video. "S.O.S. (Anything But Love)" was also featured in the new motion picture "Stone's War" a science-fiction war movie based on a story of Finnish soldiers during World War 2.
LACUNA COIL is currently working on its highly anticipated new album, the follow-up to 2006's "Karmacode".
